About RobertSlavik.com
Designed. Redesigned. Heavily edited. Never spell checked. Occassionally visited. Many times incorrect. Proactive. Confused.

RobertSlavik.com has been an evolution of sorts. It's true beginning dates back to the fall of 1998 when I was a struggling freshman at RPI in Troy, NY. At that time in my life I was in need of something exciting. And along came an incredible teacher and a great hobby. Mike Stanley and html, respectively. I was hooked.

If I recall correctly, the original title was "Slavs Inc.", appropriately named considering the recent release of Metallica's "Garage Inc.". The site when through many names, a few new pages, and very little advancement.

Sooner or later I invested a little time and energy in the design details. Just enough to get by. To keep my audience guessing as to my capabilities. Of course, design will only take you so far. And there was no fooling my audience - no matter how many layouts I incorporated one thing never changed - I had nothing exciting to say.

It's pretty hard to hold a one-way communication device if you can't carry the conversation. I quickly found this out. So, I reverted to journals, pictorials, top 5 lists ... anything and everything. Simply to publish something. Childish.

What is RobertSlavik.com? I wish I knew. For me, it's a release. A way out. A voice. A way to keep in touch. A way to say thanks. A medium. For you, I don't know. Maybe it's a way to kill some down-time at work. Or something to talk to each other about. Or a reason to pick-up the phone.

In conclusion ...
RobertSlavik.com. It won't answer any of those tough questions that we all have to answer. It won't help you get up in the morning. It won't change your life. But I'm glad it's earned a special place in my heart. And I'm thankful for your attention.

"And now he's home and we're laughing ...
Like we always did ... my same old ... same old friend ..."      - E. Vedder
